NEET 2024 Eligibility

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) serves as a crucial gateway for aspiring medical and dental students in India. 1. Educational Qualifications:

   - General category candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology, while SC/ST/OBC candidates must have secured 40%.


2. Age Limit:

   - The minimum age limit for NEET aspirants is 17 years as of December 31, 2024.

   - There is no upper age limit for appearing in NEET, subject to the final decision of the Supreme Court on the matter.


3. Number of Attempts:

   - Until 2017, there was a cap of three attempts for NEET. However, this restriction was removed, and candidates can now attempt NEET any number of times until they reach the upper age limit, provided they fulfill other eligibility criteria.


4. Nationality:

   - Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and foreign nationals are eligible to appear for NEET.


5. Eligibility for 15% All India Quota Seats:

   - To be eligible for the 15% All India Quota seats, candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria as prescribed by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

   - They must also adhere to the rules and regulations laid down by the respective State Governments and Universities/Institutions concerned.



6. Other Requirements:

   - Candidates must ensure they meet all the specified eligibility criteria before applying for NEET.

   - It is advisable to carefully read the official notification and brochure released by NTA to understand all the requirements and procedures.
